Potential Coach from US
To Whom it May Concern,
I am extremely interested in applying to become involved in your programs as a coach. I have an extensive background in lacrosse as I played close defense in high school at Lenape Regional High School in South Jersey. In high school I was the first four year letter winner in my high school's Men's Lacrosse history. I was three time all conference, two time captain, an All-South Jersey winner and was nominated for All-American my junior year. I played club at Saint Joseph's University for three years where I split time between close and LSM. During that time, I coached at Lenape Regional High School, where I handled the defense. As a senior at Saint Joseph's University I walked on and made the Division One program as a LSM. Due to an injury my career will be cut short. I am due to graduate in May. I Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely, Zachary Iannucci

This year, in the Boy's competition, the Brighton finished on top ahead of North Adelaide. Well done Tomcats!

There are no finals played in the Under 11 competition - the "Premiership" Shield goes the club which finishes on top of the ladder at the end of the season.

This year it was very close, with Sturt and Brighton finishing on equal points. Under our rules we then look at the results of games between those two teams, and as Brighton defeated Sturt during the year, the Shield went to Brighton.

Well done to all teams who competed in this competition this season, and thank you to all Clubs, Coaches, Managers, Scorers and Parents, for supporting the players and the competition.

ZERO Tolerance (towards Officials)
Recently LSA formulated a "Zero Tolerance" policy to try to stamp out poor behaviour towards officials.

This policy has been suspended temporarily pending some fine tuning and liaison with ALRA and SAWLUA.

This in no way a reflection of our attitude to or tolerance of poor behaviour in relation to officials or abuse of umpires and referees - this is simply un-acceptable and behaviour is being monitored closely.

Not only is it personally unpleasant for those being targetted, and disrespectful by those delivering the abuse, we have lost some very fine people due to player behaviour towards umpires. As all clubs would be aware, officials are never easy to find, and losing people puts pressure on club players to officiate in games.

Once the policy and/or bylaw has been revised and re-instituted, all clubs will be advised. In the meantime, please treat all Officials with respect at all times. It is up to Clubs to monitor the behaviour of all at their club - players, officials, supporters, parents.
Congratulations!

Congratulations to all players who have made the preliminary squad of 34 for the Australian Men's Team to compete in the World Cup in Manchester in 2010. (And especially to our South Aussie boys!)

After a gruelling week of lacrosse in Adelaide, the difficult job of culling the 55
contenders down to just 34 has been done.

Congratulations to the players that have made the squad. The Coaches and Selection
Committee were greatly impressed by the dedication and commitment shown by all
those that attended.

Police Checks and Play by the Rules
The new LSA Member Protection Policy, which incorporates Child Protection, requires that all Clubs identify all positions in which the appointed person could reasonably be deemed to need a National Police Check, and to ensure that the appointed person undertakes a Police Check and does the relevent on-line Play by the Rules Course.
This would include all positions where there is regular contact with under age boys and girls, eg coaches, managers and trainers.

Illegal Women's Stick
The following has been received from Anne Kingston

The Warrior Amonte has not been approved for International use, is approved in the USA only. It is illegal for nationals and world cup.
Legality of Sticks
WLA
This information has been received from Annie Kingston

Although deBeer states on its website that the Essence head and the TOS bent shaft are legal for the IFWLA game, they have not been approved by the RIH Lab. The head with the shaft attached does not meet IFWLA Crosse specifications nor does the IFWLA rule currently allow bent shafts.

The deBeer Essence is NOT LEGAL for IFWLA play! there are problems with both the head and shaft; the first being that the shaft is currently bent and not legal according to IFWLA rules.

Only the old Apex and Impulse are currently legal for IFWLA play. The STX head with the bent shaft is not legal either.
Re headgear for Women
Most players would be aware that an STX player recently suffered a significant eye injury when hit by a ball during a game.

Players are advised that the wearing of appropriate head gear is permissible in all women's and girl's grades. The American style Eye Goggles are available from STX Australia, and Auslax - please refer to the sponsor's page for contact details.

The women's committee is currently working on a more formal policy to deal with this, and researching the availability and suitability of various helmets. This will be released as soon as possible.

You are reminded that unless wearing a helmet which protects the mouth, the wearing of mouthguards is compulsory in the Under 13/15/17 Girls and in all Women's Grades, and highly recommended in the Under 11 Boys and Girls.

Please refer to the sponsor's page for information about mouthguards from Peformance Mouthguards.
